Blog Post 1: "How free is this culture?"

Our culture is generally free for the most part with a few exceptions. It is not looked down upon to branch off the ideas of others to create something new, however it is illegal and frowned upon to copy somebody else's idea and take the credit for it. Today, a major issue is copyright and piracy which makes our culture lose more and more freedom everyday. If people did not take such advantage of the freedom we were given, we would still have plenty of freedom in our society when it comes to music, film, and ect. Freedom is limited depending on which party you are a member of. Certain areas are easier to gain freedom in than others. People are constantly suing each other in the industry for stolen ideas and copyrights.

When it comes to movies and film, usually the film makers with a more well known studio name would receive more credit for an idea even if the idea was originally created within a smaller corporation who is not known by many people. The larger companies may pay the smaller companies a small amount of money for the idea they are using, but that does not make up for the millions of dollars that the large companies are making from that idea that was not theirs to begin with.

Anybody can come up with an idea, we are all creative in our own ways. However, coming up with the idea is not the most challenging part in the world today. The real challenge is letting the ideas and creations be known and who ever can make that possible is the one who deserves the credit. If any random person thought of an extraordinary idea, they can't do much with it. They mind as well let a big corporation take credit for it and get paid some money, than get paid no money and keep the idea to themselves the rest of their lives.

Introduction

The purpose of this blog is to post our class work and thoughts throughout the semester. The use of blogging will make it easier for the class to connect with each other, as well as our professor.
